DIY: At-Home Spa Scalp Massage

DIY At Home Spa Scalp MassageHealthy hair starts at the scalp.  The scalp often goes through a lot of stress from washing, drying, styling and various hair products.  It is also affected by the weather, like the summer sun's rays or the harsh chill of winter.  Follow our easy tips to encourage a strong, healthy and balanced scalp.

Exfoliate:  Just as you would exfoliate your skin, you can also exfoliate your scalp.  This process will help rid your scalp of dead skin cells and product build-up, while encouraging circulation.  It will also allow for nutrients to better penetrate the scalp.  To exfoliate the scalp, simply brush each section from the top of your head to the nape of your neck.  Repeat this process.  We recommend using a paddle brush for best results.

Apply a scalp treatment:  Scalp treatments provide many benefits, and are especially effective when applied after exfoliating the scalp.  A popular scalp treatment is Phyto Phytopolleine Scalp Stimulant Elixir.  It nourishes and balances all scalp conditions with its 100% essential oil blend.  When applying any scalp treatment, be sure to follow its directions and apply directly to scalp in sections.

Leave your scalp treatment on for the recommended amount of time.

Massage your scalp while your scalp treatment gets to work.  This will encourage the treatment and help stimulate glands to produce a healthy amount of sebum.  To massage your scalp, rotate your fingertips in circular movements, starting at the nape and moving towards the top of your head.  Next, massage your hairline.  For an extra relaxing treat, briefly hold your fingertips near your temples and behind your ears.

Once you're ready, wash your hair, focusing on the scalp.

Repeat this entire process once a week or every other week.  You can continue to use your scalp treatment as often as needed.
